About Us
In Camden we are committed to working together to make our borough the best place to live, work, study and visit. Partnership with our communities is central to the way we work, so that everyone can access opportunities, and nobody gets left behind.
The Role
Due to a period of exciting change, we have a fantastic opportunity for a highly organised and diligent Principal Planning Officer to join our multi-disciplinary Euston Regeneration team. This is a professional role that requires a cross-section of skills and behaviors to ensure high-quality outputs that contribute towards Camden’s overarching objective to create a new piece of the city at Euston, planned with the community at its heart.
The Euston Regeneration team has responsibility for the development of planning policy for the Euston area, managing the pre-application and application process for the oversite development above and around Euston Station and the HS2 station, shaping emerging designs for Network Rail and Crossrail 2 stations at Euston, considering wider opportunities around Euston Station and delivering the objectives of the Euston Area Plan.
To be considered for this exciting opportunity the successful candidate must have a degree level qualification and a diploma or postgraduate qualification in town planning or related discipline or relevant experience with eligibility for membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute being desirable.
A hard-working, dynamic planner is sought to lead on the update to the Euston Area Plan, ensuring that the policy update is shaped by the local community and business needs as appropriate and informed by a robust evidence base. Working alongside other members of the Euston Regeneration team you will be responsible for ensuring effective project management and allocation of resources including management of staff and or consultants to deliver high-quality outputs and the delivery of the Euston Area Plan objectives.
You will take responsibility for effective negotiation, stakeholder involvement and conflict resolution to ensure high quality and innovative outcomes that reflect Council-wide objectives and policies. The successful candidate will be able to work within a complex environment, taking responsibility for delivering defined outcomes in a high-quality effective manner. You will be skilled at establishing a relationship with and influencing key stakeholders and developing collaborative working arrangements. Experience in engaging with local communities to shape policy is essential.
You will have a proven track record of working within placeshaping in a local authority environment with a thorough awareness of current and draft planning legislation at local, London regional and national levels.
