About us

Camden is listening to everyone, including you. We’re giving a platform to people inside and outside our community. Because, we’re not just home to the UK’s fast-growing economy. We’re home to the most important conversations happening today. And we’re making radical social change a reality, so that nobody gets left behind. In this role, you’ll work across everything from planning and developing ESOL curriculum, developing partnerships with local organisations and Councils, meet targets, performance manage, monitor and improve quality of delivery, liaise with awarding bodies, manage IAG and progression and ensure tutors have the support, resources and equipment.

The role

Camden ACL is a Good Community focused ACL Service closely integrated into Camden Council. Its provision is primarily entry level and delivered on the doorstep. We are seeking a ESOL Programme Manager to plan and develop an ESOL curriculum to meet local and national priorities. This post would suit a well-organised flexible person with an ESOL teaching/management background willing to pick things up on the move. The department has just renewed its curriculum intent after an internal and external consultation period and this year starts the two-year change process envisioned by the new curriculum strategy. We are looking for a manager who can reach performance targets and develop partnerships with local organisations and relevant Council teams to reach priority groups and run programmes in appropriate community venues.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and will require an Enhanced DBS.

To be considered for this exciting opportunity it is essential the successful candidate holds a full Level 5 adult teaching qualification (such as DTLLS or its equivalent). You will have an excellent working knowledge of the national ESOL curriculum including pedagogy and policy in relation to teaching ESOL. The ideal candidate will have previous demonstrable experience working with learners from diverse backgrounds. You will be adept at providing appropriate standards of customer care in working with vulnerable, disadvantaged learners with low levels of skills, confidence and self-esteem.
