About Us:

Apply your superb organisational skills to an ambitious library service transformation.

At the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, we’re committed to meeting the needs of absolutely everyone. Right now, we’re revolutionising our library service, to make it the most inclusive in the UK. Our ambitious transformation programme has a range of exciting goals - from boosting literacy, to reducing loneliness and health inequalities. We’ll also celebrate local culture, and help facilitate the recovery of our community in a post-pandemic world. The programme covers both physical and virtual spaces, as well as commercial services. Your support will be vital to our success. The Role:

In the brand-new role of Executive and Programme Support Officer, you’ll join a team that’s been inspired and empowered by our Chief Library Officer. The Library Service is open, supportive and keen to deliver true social value for our communities. You’ll provide an efficient, high quality and proactive support service to the Chief Library Officer and the Transformation Programme Manager. But this is no straightforward administrative post: you’ll have direct input into the design of some of our processes, and play an active part in helping to drive the programme forward.

We will look to you to develop administrative procedures, data collection and management information systems. You’ll enjoy the chance to take lead responsibility in some of those areas, as well as leading projects and meetings, and reporting outcomes directly to senior managers. Along the way, you will work closely with the Library Leadership team, Service Delivery Managers and Service Improvement Managers, helping them to compile reports for the transformation programme. To make the role even more diverse, you’ll support initiatives in two boroughs: Kensington and Chelsea, and our bi-borough partners in Westminster.

Please refer to the Job Description for more information.

About You: Experience of supporting project work is vital. You’ll bring to the role a proven flair for organisation and administration, with skills in managing meetings and diaries, drafting reports and correspondence, and formatting and delivering presentations. Ideally, you’ll also have experience of using project tools. It is your communication and interpersonal skills that really set you apart. You have what it takes to be an ambassador for the library transformation programme, with the ability to manage deliverables and income lines, chasing updates to keep everything on track.

In return, you can look forward to a package that includes a competitive salary, a high-quality pension scheme and generous annual leave plus bank holidays.

Please apply online explaining how you meet the requirements set out in the person specification and job description. CV’s alone will not be considered for this role.

We reserve the right to close this vacancy early if we receive a high volume of suitable applicants.
