2 x Full Time Secondment posts – 37 hrs a week (12 month)

In October 2016 Cambridgeshire County Council launched it Permit Scheme for Road Works and Street Works. The aim of the scheme is to improve our capability to effectively manage and maintain the local highway network for the safe and efficient use of road space, whilst allowing Promoters access to maintain their services and assets.

We are seeking an enthusiastic person to work as a Permit Officer within the Cambridgeshire Street Works and Permitting Team. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to changing the way street works are managed in Cambridgeshire. You will oversee the permit application and approval process and work as part of the team dealing with street works and co-ordination of works on the highway network working as part of a team.

The post holder will assist in the processing and co-ordination of the Cambridgeshire Permit Scheme in accordance with the legislation and national conditions. They will ensure all permits are reviewed and co-ordinated and managed accurately and efficiently.

You will liaise with Utility Companies, and our Highways Service Contractor and other stakeholders to find ways to ensure working together to minimise disruption on the network. You will also be responsible for ensuring that the works are carried out in accordance with the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991 and the Traffic Management Act 2004.

The team are based in Huntingdon.
