We’re looking for experienced civil engineers to join our well-regarded design and implementation team.  Working for a variety of public sector clients across Hampshire, we carry out a wide range of active travel schemes from opportunity identification through feasibility, consultation, design and implementation stages. We also serve as the in-house engineering resource for both Havant and East Hampshire Councils, carrying out a variety of municipal engineering activities such as improvements to Council owned assets which may include elements of working on drainage and open spaces projects. We play an active role in contributing to council policy with regard to walking, cycling and public transport, working with Hampshire County Council on projects across Hampshire.

You will be allocated your own specific engineering projects to manage and will drive those projects throughout their life cycle. You will be able to carry out effective preparation, management and presentation of feasibility studies and initial design of highway improvement schemes, including, where appropriate, managing the performance of consultants employed to carry out such works. The role will include the preparation of plans, funding bids, specifications, bills of quantities, and contract documents. You will issue tenders for building your schemes on behalf of internal or external clients and will supervise works on site.

You will be competent in the use of Computer Aided Design (CAD) to produce engineering drawings. Training will be given with respect to our corporate CAD standards.

You will be a member of the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE), Chartered Institution of Highways & Transportation (CIHT) or similar, with a minimum of 5 years' experience of working in a civil engineering design office environment. As you will be expected to travel throughout Hampshire to undertake site visits and to meet clients, a full driving license is required. Training will be provided to help you fulfil your role, including Streetworks accreditation and the various IT systems we use.

We recognise the importance of a good balance between work and home life so we do everything we can to accommodate flexible working including working from home (dependent on service need) and other arrangements. Please just let us know in your application or at any stage throughout the process (and beyond) if these are options you’d like to explore.

In return for your hard work and contribution, we can offer you a competitive salary, generous annual leave, flexi time, free parking, leisure centre discounts, membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme and more.
