Are you interested in joining an ambitious, forward-thinking local authority?

Canterbury City Council is a district council in the heart of Kent and offers a vibrant place to work and live.

It is anaspirational city that is steeped in history and culture and has a beautiful, active coastline along with village life that epitomises the Garden of England.

We are now looking to recruit a highly-motivated, enthusiastic and experienced Locality Services Manager. They will lead and manage a team of local officers who are out on the road providing a visual and responsive presence in the community that can respond to customers and resolve issues on the ground.

The teams will also deliver inspection and enforcement services - including parking, licensing, environmental and planning enforcement as well as private sector housing.

This role will also be responsible for other locally-based services within the district such as our Control Room and Lifeline services, maintaining a high level of service to our customers.

The post holder will need to be adaptable, responding to changing priorities and dealing with service requests and councillor queries.

It will be essential to have a sound and proven background in local enforcement processes.

They will also need to demonstrate the drive to improve the standards and quality of the customer relationships within the area.

Experience of dealing with complex problems in a challenging environment and the ability to work under pressure is essential.

We are going through an exciting organisational change programme as part of our commitment to continually improve our services and delivery for our and to customers.

This is one of the pivotal roles within the new operating model and therefore a permanent position. The role will also form part of the council’s extended management team.

Canterbury City Council is a great place to work. Our conditions include Local Government Pension Scheme membership plus benefits. Our staff benefits package includes generous annual leave and flexible working arrangements, reduced cost leisure membership and excellent training and development opportunities.

For an informal discussion about the post please contact peter.davies@canterbury.gov.uk

Interviews to be held weeks commencing 11th and 18th October.
