Are you interested in joining an ambitious, forward-thinking local authority?

Canterbury City Council is a district council in the heart of Kent and offers a vibrant place to work and live.

It is an aspirational city that is steeped in history and culture and has a beautiful, active coastline along with village life that epitomises the Garden of England.

We are looking to recruit an experienced housing professional to work closely with the Deputy Director of People, other senior managers and councillors, to ensure that we provide exceptional housing services to help enhance the quality of life for our tenants and residents.

In this role you will be the lead officer for the strategic management and delivery of the council’s housing and community service, including tenancy management of our social housing stock, homelessness, housing allocations and the council’s housing waiting list, private sector housing, refugee resettlement, and community support.

You will be responsible for ensuring that the housing and community services we deliver are legally compliant, and that we are leading the way in best practice.

If you have vision, energy and enthusiasm, significant experience in a specialist housing field combined with a passion for delivering excellence in public sector housing, then we want to hear from you.

We are going through an exciting organisational change programme as part of our commitment to continually improve our services and delivery for our and to customers.

This is one of the pivotal roles within the new operating model and therefore a permanent position. The role will also form part of the council’s extended management team.

Canterbury City Council is a great place to work. Our conditions include Local Government Pension Scheme membership plus benefits. Our staff benefits package includes generous annual leave and flexible working arrangements, reduced cost leisure membership and excellent training and development opportunities.

If you would like to discuss this role further please email marie.royle@canterbury.gov.uk to organise an informal chat.

Interviews to be held weeks commencing 11th and 18th October.
