Could you use the skills gained in your professional career working with children and young people to become a Fostering Plus Foster carer?  If you are over 21 years old, have a spare bedroom, can be available for a child on a full time basis and have significant personal or professional experience of managing children with complex needs then you could apply to be a Fostering Plus Foster carer.

Fostering Plus is a unique opportunity for individuals or couples to provide long-term family based placements for young people aged 7 -18 years old who currently live in or are at risk of entering residential care.

To be a Fostering Plus Foster Carer, we are looking for highly motivated individuals to see the potential in a child and encourage their positive engagement in the things that they are good at and enjoy.

This is a full-time role and ideally, this will be a solo placement.

You will need to have a high level of resilience, the ability to self-reflect and embrace change and uncertainty to be confident in adapting your parenting approach to support the individual child’s emotional and developmental needs.

Your professional experience could include a background in social work, children’s residential homes, youth work or similar professions where your role involved supporting young people who are vulnerable and who may have complex needs.

You will be part of a multi-disciplinary team of support around the young person, will be committed to attending regular meetings, and will be willing to take part in training and development as required.

In return, we offer you a rewarding career make a difference to a local child’s life, working from home as part of a professional team.  Fostering Plus care is challenging and we pay our foster carers a weekly fee of £600 plus allowances and expenses to enable them to care for our children and young people full-time.  In addition, you will have the opportunity to have time by yourself with built in short breaks for your young person.

We offer specialist, focussed training and support to carers with access to our in house clinical consultant.  All placements are carefully matched and will receive a high level of operational and management oversight.
