The Major Works Section of the Client Housing and Regeneration Department is seeking a Technical Manager to manage own projects along with a small group of Project Controllers implementing building contracts prepared and supervised by external professional consultants and inhouse surveyors.

You will have a relevant qualification and extensive experience of managing housing maintenance and refurbishment in occupied properties, with significant knowledge of both high and low rise properties, Housing, Building Regulations, Health and Safety Legislation.

You will need excellent communication skills at senior level with other teams, Councillors, consultants, contractors, Residents Associations, leaseholders and tenants.

Projects include new build housing, major estate refurbishments and cyclic maintenance with annual budgets for capital and revenue work in excess of £30M.

The successful applicant will be joining an established team of professionals which has an exceptional record of maintaining and improving the Councils housing stock whilst achieving a high level of resident satisfaction. This post attracts a Car User allowance, for which you must hold a current driving licence free of serious offences along with the use of a car insured for business purposes.

The Housing & Regeneration Department has a wide range of projects including the continued development of its ambitious new build programme which the Major Works Section assists the Estate Regeneration Teams to achieve. This position is integral to ensuring the Housing & Regeneration Department continues to achieve its high quality standards of work during the current period of dynamic change within the borough and presents an exciting opportunity for professional development.
