This is a varied and interesting role that involves working outside on site, at height and on public highways. You will be carrying out highways and street lighting electrical repairs including maintenance and installations and on occasions excavations/column installs.

In addition to the required qualifications the successful candidate should have good communcation skills as the role involves working with clients, customers, external and internal contractors, office staff and management to ensure any problems/faults are dealt with both quickly and efficiently and that solutions are identified and implemented within efficient timescales.

Although support and management will be continuous this role involves lone working at times so you will need to be able to work using your own initiative and be able to cover out of hours standby for emergencies.

You must hold a full driving licence preferably to drive up to 7.5 tonne MEWPs. (mobile elevated working platform).

As this role is public facing, applicants will need to demonstrate, at interview, their competency to converse and provide advice and guidance to members of the public, in spoken English to CEFR level: B2 - Can adjust to the changes of direction, style and emphasis normally found in conversation.  Can produce stretches of language with a fairly even tempo; although he/she can be hesitant as he or she searches for patterns and expressions, there are few noticeably long pauses.

The Council is highly committed to investing in the talent and wellbeing of our staff and can offer a generous annual leave allowance, access to the Local Government Pension Scheme, comprehensive Health & Wellbeing initiatives and a reward package which recognises your contribution. We can offer flexible working practices, community engagement and volunteer activities and, as part of our commitment to you, promote continuous Learning & Development. In addition we also offer a growing range of discounts, rewards and savings.
