We serve a rich and ethnically diverse community which offers a rewarding client base to work with and learn from as you continuously develop and add value and empathy to the service.

Join us here and you’ll help to deliver one of the Council’s key objectives: to improve the wellbeing of our residents and to support them in living better lives.

The Role:

You will focus on providing community services to people with learning disabilities. This starts with assessing their individual needs and tailoring a support package that’s designed to meet them. It could involve helping people with day-to-day activities or more complex needs. To do so as effectively as possible, you will often need to overcome communications challenges to establish a bond with them and fully understand the issues at hand. Building productive working relationships with carers and other professionals, as well as family members and any wider support network.

About You:

Preferable experience of working in an Adult Social Care setting will have given you many of the skills and experience you’ll need. These include the warmth and empathy to create trusted relationships with clients, and productive partnerships with those around them. Attitude and approach is crucial here. A patient, calming presence, you’ll have a vocational attitude. You may come from an area related to social care, Citizen’s Advice or Housing are just two.

In return, you can look forward to a package that includes a competitive salary, a high-quality pension scheme and generous annual leave plus bank holidays.
