About Energy Saving Trust

Energy Saving Trust is an independent organisation working to address the climate emergency. We provide leadership and expertise to deliver a zero carbon society. We work with individuals, businesses, communities and governments to save energy and reduce carbon emissions.

The opportunity

We are looking for an experienced individual, passionate about decarbonising transport and improving air quality.

This role is in the Local Government Support Programme. Established in 2018, this growing, popular programme is funded by the Department for Transport and the Office for Zero Emission Vehicles.

You will build productive working relationships with local authorities within the Midlands and share your knowledge with officers through workshops, webinars, tailored reports and follow-up support. You will collaborate with colleagues to research new topics and update our advice.

About you

You will have sound knowledge of low carbon transport and a strong interest in electric vehicles and chargepoints.

You are organised, flexible and self-motivated. You will be confident at managing stakeholders and projects and think strategically. You will proactively seek to deepen your knowledge and contribute ideas to develop our programme.

Experience working on projects involving electric vehicles or chargepoint procurement in the public or private sector would be advantageous. However, we also welcome applications from motivated individuals with relevant, transferable experience from the energy, sustainability or transport sectors. Experience working for a local authority or in a similar consultancy role is essential.

Reporting to the Programme Manager, you will be working in a dedicated team of six, both home and office-based.

About the role

This is a full-time, permanent position.

We are looking for a home-based colleague located in (or very close to) the Midlands to support local authorities specifically in this region.

Once Covid-19 restrictions are fully eased, we expect the role to involve travel within your region a couple of times a month, for example to deliver a workshop for a council, and occasionally further afield within England to assist colleagues.

Our benefits include

Full time roles are contracted at 37.5 hours per week.

• 25 days holiday rising with continuous service, in addition to public holidays.

• Private medical insurance.

• Eyecare vouchers.

• Stakeholder pension plan.

• Life assurance (4 x annual salary).

• Employee Assistance Programme.

• Cycle to work scheme.

• Subsidised gym membership.

• Season ticket loan.

• One professional subscription per year.

• Family friendly policies, including maternity, adoption, paternity, shared parental leave, special leave and other time off (e.g. for public duties and family emergencies).

• Sabbatical after five years’ service.

Applications close midnight, Sunday 1 August 2021.
