Job Details

With sustainable growth comes transport opportunity

Cambridgeshire County Council’s vision is to make Cambridgeshire a great place to call home. We are ambitious about the way in which we can support and shape the future success of our communities. As the fastest growing county in the UK, a big focus for Cambridgeshire is on developing and maintaining our highways and transportation networks. We want to ensure that Cambridgeshire continues to be a great place to live, work and learn, for both existing and new residents.

With exciting new developments and high-profile projects underway, Cambridgeshire is going through a period of tremendous growth and change. As we emerge from the pandemic, there has never been a more important time for Cambridgeshire to be a truly connected county. To support these growth aims, the Council seeks a new Assistant Director for Transport Strategy & Network Management to influence transformational change and innovation across our highways and transport directorate.

As a credible sector leader with an outstanding ability to engage and communicate with communities, key partners and political stakeholders, you will lead on the development, investment and delivery of ambitious infrastructure projects in support of the Council’s transport and network management aims. You’ll devise innovative ways of expanding and enhancing our networks to meet the needs of our growing population and, importantly, ensure resident safety is at the heart of everything we do.

With exceptional ambassadorial qualities and an ability to manage multi-million pound budgets, you will lead an unrivalled team to ensure our programmes of work are delivered to the highest standard. Whilst we’re already a leader in sustainable travel, the Council must become more innovative and more ambitious and, as Assistant Director, you will be integral in leading us to reach our Council-wide economic growth plans and zero carbon targets.

This is your time to shine. Join us and bring true leadership and innovation to the future of connectivity within Cambridgeshire.
