We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Traffic Signals Engineer to join Bath and North East Somerset Council’s Traffic Signals Design team. In this role you’ll have responsibility for the design, development, set up and maintenance of wide variety of traffic signal facilities and Intelligent Transport System technologies including, Urban Traffic Control, Urban Traffic Management Control, variable message signs, CCTV and Real-Time Passenger Information.

Our roads, footpaths and cycleways are vital to the communities, businesses and services within the villages, towns and city that make up Bath and North East Somerset, as well as to the millions of visitors that come here every year. It’s a varied district that includes two Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the thriving World Heritage City of Bath. The Council’s Traffic Signals Team is responsible for managing all aspects of the delivery of the Council’s policy, strategy and operations for Traffic Signals and Intelligent Transport System assets.

This is a senior post and salary will be dependent on experience based on the Person Specification. Appointment at the lower grade will allow progress to the higher grade on demonstration of meeting the higher specification. Bath and North East Somerset promotes flexible working and we would consider requests for flexible working arrangements, including part-time hours and alternative working patterns.

We are looking for someone with enthusiasm, creativity, vision and good communication skills to work within the Traffic Signals Team and with Bath and North East Somerset’s ambitious plans to enable more sustainable transport modes and to manage our highway network for all users.

Your main place of work will be the award-winning, modern Civic Centre in Keynsham, halfway between Bath and Bristol, easily accessible via car or public transport, with a train station 5 minutes walk away.
