We're Serious about Social Work, we will give you freedom to practice

We are outstanding…

We really want you to come and join our brilliant, dedicated creative teams, who are passionate about supporting lasting change for children and families across North Essex. (Colchester, Clacton on Sea, Tendring and surrounding areas)

At Essex County Council, our Children and Families Social Care service is committed to giving every child and young person the support they need to excel in life.

Our Social Work teams are at the heart of this ambition. So, we've worked hard to give our Social Workers freedom to practice, time to reflect and space to develop meaningful relationships with families, with the right framework in place to enable their success.

Using systemic and strength-based social work approaches, we deliver high-quality services to families facing the most complex situations in their lives.

Now, we need more Social Workers to help us continue enhancing and evolving our service.

There are roles across North Essex in our Family Support and Protection teams, this is your opportunity to play an integral part in improving the life outcomes of some of our county's most vulnerable children and families.

Be part of a strong team dedicated to delivering systemic, relationship-based social work, and create lasting change for children and families in Essex.

Whether you join us as a Social Worker or a Senior Practitioner, we'll empower you to put families at the centre of your practice. And we'll encourage you to bring and implement new ideas to help enhance our services even further.

As a Senior Practitioner you'll be an inspirational leader within the team, with the opportunity to take the lead in a practice area.

We'll also provide you with excellent training and development opportunities for continued professional development. Because we're committed to succession planning with our staff.

So, join us and we'll support you to develop your practice, advance your skills and progress your social work career.

About Us

We ensure that all our colleagues have a comprehensive and current understanding of the systemic theoretical framework and models underpinning our interventions.

About the Team

Family Support and Protection (FS&P) is a highly regarded frontline service working across Essex.

Our teams work in a dynamic and supportive environment, with families who require our support and intervention for longer than three months intervention.

We specialise in working alongside families as agents of change, enabling children to remain with their families wherever possible.

As well as supporting families as Children in Need (CIN) and when they are subject to Child Protection (CP) plans. We work hard to ensure Children can remain with their families where possible, but we do have a dedicated Children in Care Team.
