About the Service

The Community Safety & Enforcement service in Haringey is committed to reducing gang involvement and youth violence in the borough.

The Haringey Community Gold team was established through a successful application to the Greater London Authority’s (GLA) Young Londoners Fund resulting in £1.5m to support the borough’s young people over the 3-year programme. The programme’s structure requires a Specialist Outreach Focus engaging the target group, identified in the grant application.

Haringey Community Gold uses a strengths based public health approach to engaging young people aged 10-21 years old, and benefits from a network of connected community programmes to listen and respond to young people. The Specialist Outreach Team delivers a bespoke range of services from street outreach, schools workshops, open forums, sports, training and employment.

About the role

The Specialist Detached Outreach Workers role is integral to the Haringey Community Gold Team. The role is designed to have the overall responsibility for young people aged 10-21 years identified and engaged through the programme with a view to reduce risk of becoming involved in violence, gang activity, or offending while supporting young people into positive outcomes through education, training and employment.

The Specialist Detached Outreach Worker will support young people’s engagement and participation in the design, development, delivery, implementation and evaluation of all Haringey Community Gold related projects through co-production, promoting a Public Health approach to tackling violence, crime and ASB.

The Specialist Detached Outreach Worker will involve managing initiatives and events to build relationships with communities and raise the profile of the programme. The Specialist Detached Outreach Worker will also work with a variety of stakeholders to build community relations.

About you

This is an exciting opportunity for anyone with specialist knowledge of the needs of young people involved with or affected by gang activity and experience of undertaking street-based outreach work. You will be working towards developing sustainable relationships with young people from a diverse background, especially those disengaged from mainstream society and services. You will demonstrate an awareness of current issues relating to socially excluded young people, coordinate a range of appropriate interventions and have experience of safeguarding and youth participation. You will also be expected to have a good understanding of young people's development and the ability to devise and implement bespoke opportunities.

If you share our passion for supporting young people to discover their talent and fulfil their potential, we would like to hear from you, and we look forward to receiving your application.
