Make a great borough even better

Ealing has vibrant town centres, superb parks and open spaces, and diverse and growing communities. However, there’s always room for improvement and we’ve got some exciting opportunities. Our Future Ealing plan has been transforming the way that the council delivers local services to ensure their sustainability and to focus our efforts and resources where they can have the most positive impact. At its heart, Future Ealing has three priorities: Good, genuinely affordable homes; opportunities and living incomes; Ealing is a great place– and you’ll make it even better. We want Ealing to be a place where people live fulfilling lives. A place where services and surroundings enhance every resident’s world. For that, we want leaders with the skill, drive and inspiration to bring improvement through innovation.

As Assistant Director for Transport, Highways & Parking, your contribution will be key. You’ll manage Strategic Transport policy; Sustainable transport projects; LIP and similar funded programmes; Highway, transport & parking scheme design and implementation; Asset infrastructure; Highways permits and inspection; Parking; and Enforcement & CCTV services.

By providing excellent outcomes across a diverse range of services, the role will help deliver the Place vision: To foster everyone’s ability to live fulfilling lives in the ways that they choose: through the long-term stewardship of the borough’s environment & economy and by connecting people to the strengths in our communities and to each other.

It’s all about bringing improvements and boosting performance as a trusted, collaborative leader. You’ll ensure robust financial management, give high-level advice and get projects delivered. You’ll also champion our ‘One Council’ approach, with seamless co-operation. We’re also looking for someone who will be encouraging diverse talent, you’ll support and inspire your team to give their all.

To win the confidence of colleagues and partners, you’ll need experience in a strategic transport, Highways or Parking (or transferable service areas). You don’t need to have worked in local Government, but you do need to bring a track record of delivery from within a transferable setting. However, what really matters is the ability to work closely with partners and foster an open, inclusive environment.

If you’ve got the energy and expertise that this role demands, with a track record of delivery, we can offer you the chance to make your mark in an ambitious and diverse borough such as ours.
