Kirklees is firmly focused on the future. Our vision is to create a district with a strong, sustainable economy that offers a great quality of life to its residents – leading to thriving communities, growing businesses, high prosperity and low inequality, and where people enjoy better health throughout their lives.

We are a significant player in the region; the Kirklees economy is worth over £6bn and integral to the Leeds City Region. We operate within the largest economy outside of London and the South East and are ideally placed at the heart of the Northern Powerhouse. In Kirklees we are proud; linking both industry and innovation to a strong local heritage and an area of outstanding natural beauty.

As our new Service Director – Climate Change and Environmental Strategy you will lead borough’s ambitious journey to be net-zero by 2038, the role will oversee the council’s climate change programme, lead on the delivery of environmental campaigns and our regulatory functions, environmental health, air quality, corporate enforcement and licensing. Working at both a local and regional level your role will be to drive the delivery of the borough’s climate ambitions.

We need candidates who can think creatively and act dynamically – maximising resources and influence to get the best results. If you are ready to make real change happen and achieve our ambition, find out how to apply at www.kirkleesleadership.com.

For an informal discussion about the roles contact our retained consultants at GatenbySanderson: Gary Evans (07809 195 593) or Sarah Cripps (0113 416 6773).
