This is an open-ended full time position.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with excellent experience in Traffic Management and Engineering, or related discipline, to lead our Traffic Management team working to balance the demands of current and future transport needs, delivering highways improvements and policies to ensure that we have a safe, effective and efficient highway and transport network which supports the economic growth of Pembrokeshire.

You will lead and be responsible for the development and implementation of traffic management services within the County and provide expert professional technical advice and knowledge on all aspects of traffic management and engineering.

If you are a self-motivated team player, looking to take the next step in developing your career and expanding your skills in applying traffic management and road safety principles across a breadth of scenarios, this could be the role for you. You will manage a small team operating in a supportive and friendly working environment contributing to a wide range of projects, involving colleagues across the organisation.

Key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Managing the development and implementation of traffic management policies and standards leading to improved road safety and traffic control in the County.
  • Responsibility for identifying, developing and delivering traffic engineering schemes and ensuring that the Council meets internal and external requirements in doing so.
  • Overall co-ordination of all Traffic Regulation Orders and Notices (TRO / TRNs) associated with the review of existing and introduction of restrictions, in accordance with current legislation and procedure regulations.
  • Continually review and improve service delivery, applying innovative solutions across diverse subject areas in order to deliver service improvements.

You will ideally have experience working in a similar role with a minimum qualification to HND level or compensatory experience. You will have a good knowledge of GIS mapping systems and design software and a strong desire to deliver a high level of customer service. Informed decision making should come easily to you, and experience of working in a local government environment is preferred.

Applicants must have high levels of communications skills for the effective performance of this customer-facing role and must be able to travel throughout the County on occasions. We feel a work life balance is important for our team members so in return for your skills we offer flexible working and a minimum of 25 days holiday per annum.
