Job details:

Would you like to work for an organisation whose values include respect, passion, integrity, innovation and pride? Would you like to live in a conurbation renowned for its natural beauty? With long stretches of golden sand and stunning gardens, we have an international reputation, attracting millions of visitors each year. With the New Forest on our doorstep, there is something for everyone to enjoy in this vibrant community.

We have a number of exciting opportunities to join our Engineering Services, working for a newly formed local authority where transformation and digital ways of working are at the heart of what we do.

We are looking for amazing candidates at every level, from technicians through to senior engineers, across a number of disciplines, including highway design, highway maintenance, highway structures, street lighting & programme/project management.

BCP Council has recently formed as one of the country’s newest and largest unitary authorities and you will have the opportunity to help shape the future of Engineering Services within the authority. We have just been awarded £79M for Transforming the way our residents and visitors travel and are expecting further funding for additional Active Travel Measures, as well as ongoing funding through the Local Transport Plan Programme.

You’ll see schemes progress from early design to construction. You’ll feel inspired to challenge yourself, as well as your colleagues. You will work on a variety of projects across the conurbation from major highways improvements through to a diverse range of small and medium highways and structural design projects, enabling you to advance your career, whilst giving you the freedom to achieve personal growth and development. We will provide you with the opportunities to enable you to succeed and support you to reach your potential.

We are looking for enthusiastic, flexible and passionate people, who want to make a difference for their community. If you think you’re up for the challenge and want to take advantage of this opportunity, please send us your CV, along with an expression of interest of no more than 2 pages, explaining why you would like to work for us; which discipline interests you the most; what you could bring to role and the level you would like to work at with the authority.

Email your CV and expression of interest to Engineering.recruitment@bcpcouncil.gov.uk.

As a result of the creation of BCP Council in 2019, we are working on simplifying our terms and conditions of service and will be creating a single pay structure which all of our employees will move on to.  It is important to us that we offer benefits that our colleagues value as part of their total employment package and we are reviewing these to make sure we have it right.  We’re hoping to implement these changes in October 2021 and all colleagues joining us will be included in these changes.

•    Prioritise the development of a 21st Century City by the sea
