Our Children’s Health and Disability Service works with York’s most vulnerable children with complex needs. Our team is dedicated to working with these children and their families to support and improve their outcomes.

The team consists of social workers and child in need practitioners, and is part of a wider partnership service of short breaks providers, a Clinical Psychology Team (FIRST) and an Occupational Therapist.

This statutory children’s social work service is managed by the Team Manager who is accountable for the service provided, for supervision of team members, case management decisions and quality assurance. The Team Manager plays an important role in the implementation of SEND reforms within the service. Building and maintaining effective relationships with other teams and external partner agencies is key to this Team Manager role.

Relocation expenses, in accordance with the City of York Council’s Relocation Policy, may be available for the successful candidate subject to meeting the relevant criteria

As this role is public facing, applicants will need to demonstrate, at interview, their competency to converse and provide advice and guidance to members of the public, in spoken English to CEFR level C1: Can express him/herself fluently and spontaneously, almost effortlessly. Only a conceptually difficult subject can hinder a natural, smooth flow of language.
