If you answered yes to any of these questions, then we have got the perfect role for you! An excellent opportunity has arisen for an occupational therapist to join us and help set up the occupational therapy service in Barnet, and to further develop our motivated and forward thinking Integrate Community Learning Disability Service (BICLD).

The role of the occupational therapist is to support individuals with Learning Disabilities and additional health needs providing specific healthcare interventions. The occupational therapy team work with patients, relatives, carers, and a wide range of health & social care professionals and many outside agencies. The aim is to provide functional, environmental, equipment, risk assessments as well as providing moving & handling, contracture management, training, support and advice.

The post holder will receive a thorough induction and regular operational supervision. Opportunities for personal and professional development exist through supervision, support, sharing of best practice and continuing professional development.

About you:

We are looking for a team player who has a range of clinical experiences. The successful candidate will need to have good communication skills, and any experience working within an inter-disciplinary team and interagency collaboration will be an advantage.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing clinical and therapeutic guidance to colleagues working with people with Learning Disabilities and additional health needs, to enable the team to undertake service development, changes of service, practice and ways of working to enable effective inter-discipline working. You will be asked to continue to develop and promote the role of occupational therapy within an integrated team, taking responsibility for identifying and flagging service gaps to improve service delivery.

As an integral member of the MDT the post holder will be required to contribute to and attend weekly MDT meetings. In addition to this, complete presentations to external agencies and deputise for the lead OT when required, supervise junior staff and education OT students on fieldwork placement.
