We’re Kirklees…Are you?

The Kirklees Vision is to be a district which combines a strong, sustainable economy with a great quality of life - leading to thriving communities, growing businesses, high prosperity and low inequality where people enjoy better health throughout their lives. This vision is supported by our transformative infrastructure investment programme which will deliver:

  • £70m investment in digital infrastructure
  • Multi-million investment in low carbon energy schemes
  • £200m investment in the transport network (including circa £40m Transforming Cities Fund
  • £450M investment in town centres
  • 30,000 new homes by 2031
  • Active travel investment programme

To drive forward the delivery of this ambitious programme of work we have refocused our resources to create this new and exciting Head of Highways role. In this role you will work, closely with our Major Projects, Town Centres, Housing and Planning Services. You will lead the development and delivery of:

  • Highway Design and Road Safety
  • Highway Asset Management
  • Highway Operations
  • Highway Planning & Integration
  • Urban Traffic Control (UTC)
  • Highways and Land Registry

You will have a proven track record of success in delivering effective highway services and substantial capital programmes as well as the ability to work effectively with and influence partners. Your joined-up approach, with a focus on outcomes for people and communities, will mean you challenge and support where needed. Just as important as your technical skills is your political nous and ability to work and inspire confidence within a political environment.
