Do you have a detailed knowledge of Highways Asset Management? Do you want a leading role managing highways network valued at over £1bn? If so, this is your opportunity to be part of a dynamic team effectively managing our highways network on a long term strategy..

This is a role in Telford & Wrekin Council’s Highways team managing our road and footpath network. You’ll be based between the office and home with some site visits and will be responsible for developing and delivering our highways asset management strategy and policies.  

We are looking for Postgrad qualified candidates with relevant experience in a local authority setting. You will be responsible managing our highways data within asset management systems, from surveys to analysis and programme development as well as reviewing and updating Asset Management plans and policies in line with government guidance.  You will be able to apply a pragmatic approach to programme development which addresses technical and stakeholder priorities whilst ensuring interventions are made at the right time in the asset lifecycle to maximise investment and halt pavement deterioration. You will have a strong understanding of asset management principals, pavement design, programme development, estimating and site surveying.  You will working closely with the Highways Team leader within a team of engineers and will be expected to build links with other asset managers to ensure an optimised cross asset approach is achieved when delivering maintenance programmes and strategies. You will have strong communications skills and will be in regular contact with customers, engineers, managers, peer groups, contractors and elected members. You must be able to provide your own transport with insurance for business use to allow travel to sites. Candidates should have demonstrable experience of highways maintenance at a local authority and the use of specialist highways asset management software. You will work alongside a team of engineers delivering a package of schemes as part of the Council’s 4 year investment programme to Protect, Care and Invest in our borough. You should be and able to work autonomously in all weather conditions.
