Environmental Health Technical Officers and Environmental Health Officers – COVID-19 Pandemic support

Up to 2 positions on a fixed term basis until 31st March 2021

SO2/PO2/PO3 depending on experience

We are seeking to appoint up to 2 EHOs or Technical Officers to work as part of the councils Environmental Health Team to support the work already underway to tackle the COVID-19 pandemic. These positions are available on a fixed term basis until 31st March 2020, but agency applications will also be considered from exceptional candidates.

We are looking for applicants who are able to work ideally full time, but part time may also be considered. Due to the ever-changing demands of this work it will be necessary for you to be available to work some weekends.

The ideal candidate will be capable of managing a reactive workload in response to Track and Trace related work. You can expect to be carrying out onsite inspection work for a range of premises, completing dynamic risk assessments and offering support and advice but also taking enforcement where proportionate and necessary. We have a three-stage enforcement approach – ENGAGE, EXPLAIN & ENCOURAGE and ENFORCE.

These roles would be suited to people who live within the borough, or are within an easy commute of the area, and have access to their own vehicle.

We are considering a range of grades from Technical Officer, up to EHO EHRB registration. You will have demonstrable knowledge of enforcement processes and will be confident communicator who is able to work equally well in a team and independently. We are particularly interested in hearing from applicants from a Food Safety, Health and Safety, Public Health, or regulatory enforcement background and with experience in a local authority setting.

The successful candidate will be eligible to take part in the Council's flexible working arrangements
