Essex County Council (ECC) Technology Services (TS) is focused on ensuring current and future investment in technology maximises the opportunity to support ECC in meeting its strategic goals.
To achieve this Technology Services are undertaking a major transformation programme which will create the conditions where employees, residents and businesses can collaborate, innovate and thrive.

We are looking to recruit passionate and experienced IT Professionals to assist in the design and delivery of Technology Services enabling us to deliver outstanding outcomes and experiences enabled by modern, connected technology.

The role

The Test Analyst is responsible for defining test conditions for given requirements, designing test cases and creating test scripts and supporting data, working to the specifications provided, interpreting, executing and recording test cases in accordance with project test plans and analysing and reporting test activities and results.

Role accountabilities

As a Test Analyst you will work collaboratively within the team to ensure the testing of new and changing technologies and services is delivered to meet the requirements of the business community.

You will be responsible for defining test conditions to meet business requirements enabling successful testing which ensures TS are able to deliver products that add value and support operational improvement in the business environment. You will also be responsible for designing test cases and creating comprehensive scripts with supporting data to prove compliance with the specifications provided ensuring testing is comprehensive against business requirements and that new and changing services and technologies meet operational requirements and enhance business operations.

Responsible for interpreting, executing and recording test cases in accordance with project test plans to evidence successful test outcomes or highlight defects that require rework and further testing ensuring that testing is efficient and effective, able to meet business requirements. Accountable for interpreting, executing and recording test cases in accordance with project test plans to prove successful test outcomes or to highlight defects that require rework and further testing to prove business requirements ensuring that testing is efficient and effective.
Undertakes analysis and reports test activities and results to ensure clear and auditable evidence of all testing is maintained to support decisions for releases into the business.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

* Educated to A Level or equivalent in experience in a relevant subject.
* Hold International Software Testing Qualification Board (ISTQB) Foundation accreditation or equivalent qualification.
* Able to demonstrate extensive experience in an IT Testing Role preferably working within a large Local Authority or with a Service Provider providing IT Testing Services.
* Must demonstrate a track record of working within effective teams delivering high quality IT Testing Services that have been proved successful in meeting complex business requirements and in enabling standardisation, simplification, sharing and re-use.
* Able to demonstrate a clear understanding and capability to work within relevant ICT related standards including IITIL V3, ISO/IEC 38500, ISO/IEC 27001, ISO/IEC 22301, ISO/IEC 20000, PRINCE2 and MSP.
* Good written, verbal communication and presentational skills
* Goode customer service skills.
* Evidence of continual professional development to keep pace with technical and business change that meet defined SFIA V7 competencies.
