Parking Controls Design Engineer

PO1  £32,430 - £34,794 incl. London Weighting

Permanent Post 35 hours per week

The Royal Borough of Greenwich is undergoing major change with substantial developments under way with a major home building programme and the forthcoming arrival of the Elizabeth Line (Crossrail), with new stations at Woolwich and Abbey Wood.  These bring a range of longer-term challenges associated with the pace of new development, the continuing need to support local businesses and the predicted population and employment growth.

The Council’s Parking Services plays a key role in supporting these changes by ensuring the most effective use of parking resources and the successful movement of people and goods. This is critical to the vitality of the Royal Borough and the well-being of residents and visitors and existing and prospective businesses.

Parking Services are responsible for the design, enforcement and management of parking controls across the borough.  The design team is responsible for developing designs for new Controlled parking Zones (CPZs) and other parking controls and restrictions and introducing disabled parking bays.

We are seeking to recruit an engineer to join our busy and dedicated design team.  You will have experience of undertaking all aspects of schemes including carrying out site surveys, preparation of designs and consultation documents, analysing consultation responses, report writing, implementing schemes and managing budgets.

Computer skills are essential – ideally you will have significant experience of working within a computerised office environment using a range of software including AutoCAD.

You must have a meticulous and methodical approach to your work.  The team deals with a large workload so you must be able to work on your own initiative, prioritise effectively and work under pressure as part of a team.

Closing date:  4th November 2020

When completing your application, please use the supporting statement section to tell us how you meet each of the points on the Person Specification. We need to have this information in order to consider your application. If you have a disability and are unable to meet some of the job requirements specifically because of your disability, please address this in your application.
