This is a once in a generation opportunity to reimagine Slough Borough Council and play an active and pivotal role in modernising the way our council operates. We are looking for aspirational leaders of change, who are committed to leading a positive culture, who bring innovation, and are not afraid of continued growth and challenge. Senior leaders who deliver excellence whilst working collaboratively, to build a world class organisation.

Following the creation of 12 Associate Director posts eight of which have been filled internally we are now looking externally for four Associate Directors; the remit of each will be to work right across the Council as part of a brand-new Leadership team whilst calling upon their own specific areas of specialism with which to build, develop and facilitate their own portfolios:

·     Strategy & Improvement

·     Adult Social Care Operations

·     Finance & Commercial, and

·     Community

As our Associate Director – Adult Social Care Operations you will oversee a net budget of £40M with a headcount of up to 500 employees. You will lead on a review of our Adult Social Care strategy including any service re-design and financial re-setting whilst ensuring we continue to deliver through our teams in Hospital Social Work, Safeguarding, Occupational Therapy and Social Work Service which includes Mental Health and Learning Disabilities. Your main focus will be about developing and improving our community-based approaches and service personalisation with the ultimate aim of independent but supported living. In addition, whilst we are already integrated with the NHS locally you will take the lead on the design and development of a new Health and Social Care plan for Slough.

Whilst a Social Care qualification is preferred it is not essential what is more important is that you have knowledge of Better Care Fund, comprehensive legislative understanding and experience of Locality working delivering top quality integrated services to meet our community needs and requirements. You must be resilient, able to deliver at pace, possess the required budgeting and negotiating skill sets and be highly experienced in working within a performance management data environment.

Integral to the success of our significant change and improvement programme you will be a future-focussed visionary able to handle a challenging ever-changing environment whilst inspiring others to join you on our journey.
