Job Details

This is an exciting new role within the Housing Standards and Adaptations team at the City of York Council delivering rapid support to help residents to remain in their home. The service includes falls prevention practitioners, handy person services and working with building maintenance to deliver the minor adaptation services. The service seeks to ensure residents are helped to access other partnership services to improve their health, safety and wellbeing in their home.

You will have:

•    An understanding of the importance of an integrated approach to health, housing and adult social care and a knowledge of local, regional and national priorities in relation to the prevention service and the wider team.
•    Commitment to and experience of working in and developing a customer focused environment.
•    Experience of successful partnership work with colleagues from other statutory, independent and voluntary agencies working in social care, housing and health.
•    Commitment to and awareness of health and safety and equal opportunities for staff and customers.

As this role is public facing, applicants will need to demonstrate, at interview, their competency to converse and provide advice and guidance to members of the public, in spoken English to CEFR level C2: Can express him/herself spontaneously at length with a natural conversational flow, avoiding or backtracking around any difficulty so smoothly that the person with whom they are conversing is hardly aware of it.
