Job Details

The Directorate of Communities & Environment prides itself on the service it provides to the residents of Royal Greenwich.  We are looking to recruit someone with commitment and drive who will work hard to help the Royal Borough maintain its reputation for excellent Waste, Street Cleansing and Enviro-crime Enforcement services.

You will take a leading role in the procurement of new contracts and the management and monitoring of existing contractual arrangements covering waste collection, waste disposal, street cleansing and enviro-crime enforcement.

You will also be taking a leading role in assisting the Council to progress in line with national and regional environmental strategies, and to achieve its strategic environmental ambitions. As the Council seeks to take action on the climate emergency during a period of a tightening public purse, you will be at the forefront of changing how the Council delivers its services and ensuring it gets full value for money from all of its contractors.

You will need to have significant knowledge in waste management legislation and experience in a strategic role which has involved the monitoring and management of highly detailed contracts. You will need to demonstrate that you understand any potential disputes or other issues and have a proven track record in achieving positive outcomes.

Excellent data interrogation skills, via the use of Microsoft Office products, are essential. Disposal contracts involve a lot of complex data and the candidate must have the ability to manipulate this data as required. Your duties will also include Interpreting contract data to assist in financial projections and operational efficiencies.

The ideal candidate will have a flexible approach to work and a great attention to detail.

You will work a 35-hour standard Monday to Friday week.

For an informal discussion about the post, please contact Olivier Tang on 07956 962 318 or at Olivier.tang@royalgreenwich.gov.uk from 14th September 2020.

Closing date:-   27th September 2020
