About Us

Lambeth is one of the most vibrant and diverse boroughs in London covering Brixton, Streatham, Clapham and Waterloo. We provide services such as planning, social work, housing and schools to 330,000 residents and hundreds of businesses.

Everyone at Lambeth Council brings something different to the team. But despite our diverse talents and the unique perspective each of us brings, we are all connected by a shared ambition - to make life better for our community. It takes passion, pride and an innovative spirit. That’s what makes us 100% Lambeth.

About the role

Part strategic. Part boots on the ground. In a role that’s focused on working with the community, you’ll ensure a safe, clean and sustainable environment for all. This means connecting the efforts of different departments to ensure we communicate with clarity and exceed performance expectations as one team.

It’s a strategic role where you’ll make a visible impact as you deliver services that make a difference to our residents, our ways of working and our economy. You’ll be the glue that connects teams on the front line and ensure they understand our vision and the role they play in improving waste collection, parking enforcement and climate change. Ultimately, we’ll look to you to create a cohesive directorate with a winning, joined up strategy and a balanced, commercially-led approach.

About you

We need someone who is going to get things done, inspire connected working practices and drive through delivery - whether it be parking strategy or changes in waste. Experience matters but we’re also looking for a proactive and influential attitude.

You will need excellent leadership and management ability and experience of developing talented, motivated teams and enabling them to maximise their potential. Above all, you’ll bring a collaborative approach to developing solutions and improving services.
