You will be a key member of the Regeneration and Environment Leadership Team, supporting the delivery of the Council’s corporate vision of South Tyneside as a great place to live, invest and bring up families and will provide strategic input and leadership across the broad range of functions that make up Regeneration and Environment.

This is a high-profile role with a varied and exciting portfolio, providing strategic leadership of the Council’s Capital Investment Management, Highways, Network Management and Transport Strategy Teams. You will lead on the Borough’s Strategic Plans for Transport; providing specialist advice to the Corporate Director on local, regional, national and international transport strategy and policy matters, and represent the Council at Regional and sub National transport bodies as appropriate.

You will have substantial experience of senior public or private sector leadership in the highways and transport policy sector. To succeed, you will need to be an ambitious, resilient and creative leader with a proven track record in leading the delivery of complex physical development projects.
