The above salary is based on 37 hours, actual salary will be pro-rata to 14 hours 48 minutes. 

This is an exciting and challenging time for Kirklees and we need an experienced and enthusiastic person to join our town centre delivery teams. The post in a one year contract within the Economy and Infrastructure area which leads the Council thinking on regeneration. It is on a part time basis of two days per week. 

Our ambitions for growth are helped by our newly adopted Local Plan with three major urban extensions for housing and employment as well two ‘Blueprints’ for our town centres of Dewsbury and Huddersfield. We also have a large transport infrastructure programme to implement totalling more than £150m as well aspirations to maximise opportunities brought about by the Trans Pennine Rail Upgrade, HS2. As a result of this an exciting opportunity has arisen for an exceptional project manager who wants to play a leading role in regenerating our town centres. 

We are looking for talented person to join our ambitious and highly collaborative team. We particularly want to hear from you if you can demonstrate the following skills: 

  • A degree/ HNC or equivalent, or substantial relevant experience in a relevant subject.
  • A track record of and understanding of town centre regeneration principles and practices particular with experience of business development
  • Experience of commissioning projects with external and internal providers working collaboratively and in Partnership. 
  • Creative problem solving skills to identify obstacles and resolve issues through effective negotiation.
  • Ability to apply project management principles and techniques to a wide range of complex projects or programmes including financial management of projects / programmes.
  • Practical or professional experience and understanding of this specialist area and proven problem solving skills with the capacity to devise and implement innovative solutions
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain highly effective working relationships with a range of stakeholders.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of computerised business systems.
  • Enhanced communication and interpersonal skills to develop, maintain and enhance professional relationships.

The Job –Project Development Manager 

You will be working with colleagues from within the council, other public,  private and third sector organisations, investors, the community, consultants and town centre businesses and organisations to deliver successful projects,  principally within Dewsbury town centre. Understanding regeneration in a town centre context as well as development, funding and business development will be very important.   

The primary focus of the post will be the Arcade project in Dewsbury. This will involve developing options for use of the building and producing a sustainable business plan for the future operation of the Arcade. You may also be involved in other projects within the town. 

The post holder will have a strong background in regeneration, ideally in a business and community economic development field, with excellent project management skills.
