Job Details

We are currently seeking an experienced officer administrator who will enjoy working as team and under their own initiative, with duties including:

  • Assist senior managers in providing oversight of all travel assistance processes, including commissioning, applications, assessment and parent/carer engagement and communication
  • Developing robust and cost-effective approaches for engaging parents in supporting the organisation and delivery of travel assistance through personal travel budgets, assisted travel, mileage allowance and other methods.
  • Deliver and document all work in compliance with good practice, and the Council’s approved policies and procedures as appropriate inrelation to travel assistance and project requirements
  • Assist officers with research previously identified proposals for SEN Transport cost and demand reduction to assess feasibility, likely political and family reaction/support, learning from other authorities and approaches to implementation as appropriate.
  • Assist senior managers in identifying new or alternative approaches to improvement of travel assistance services or cost and demand reduction proposals
  • Deliver agreed project outcomes on time, to required quality standards and within budget.
  • Manage various projects within the programme, working across Council departments and in close consultation with service users, schools, parent groups
  • Manage systems to ensure that the quality of the work is monitored and evaluated against key deadlines and best practice methodologies.
  • Assist and were appropriate lead and organise stakeholder meetings and progress reviews as appropriate.
  • Assist with the coordination of the work of internal and external stakeholders to implement designated project plans and utilise specialist expertise from within and outside of the London Borough of Bexley
  • Assist senior managers in assessing the guidance as required for the development of the general Home to School Transport Policy.
  • Present and analyse project information using MS Word, MS Excel, Outlook, CAD, and MS Project.
  • Monitor projects to ensure they can meet all milestones, have the support of multiple stakeholders and meets the needs of the Management Board and the specific funder or sponsor.
  • Prepare appropriate communication plans and present timely and relevant information to all stakeholders.
  • Build strong relationships with schools and colleges, using their advice and local intelligence to consider viable and effective transport models.
  • Be responsible for the dissemination of all information about ongoing work, projects, overseeing publications, website material and literature as appropriate.

Appointment to this post will be subject to the outcome of an Enhanced Disclosure obtained through the Disclosure and Barring Service

  • Excellent organisational skills practical customer focused communication skills
  • IT skills including MS Word, Outlook, MS Project, Excel, CAD
  • Ability to communicate sensitively and clearly with parents/carers
  • Experience of managing conflict and disputes sensitively and professionally.
  • Maintain and develop up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation, literature and research relating to SEN and disability.
  • Safeguard at all times confidentiality of information relating to children, staff and the partners’ work
