An exciting opportunity has arisen to lead and develop the Derbyshire Dales District Council’s Neighbourhoods team.

The Place: Derbyshire Dales is home to approximately 71,500 people and includes the market towns of Ashbourne, Bakewell, Matlock and Wirksworth. Set within the Derbyshire Dales is part of the Peak District National Park which is one of the UK’s most visited National Parks, attracting visitors from around the world. 

The Role: The Car Parks & Neighbourhoods Manager is a key position within the Community and Environmental Services department and is responsible for managing and overseeing a range of service areas including car parks, community safety, environmental crime and CCTV management.

The Council operates 45 car parks across the district, which provide a revenue stream essential to the overall operation of the Council, so it is imperative the post holder has a solid technical and operational understanding of the development and delivery of car parking services. The Car Parks & Neighbourhoods Manager is also pivotal in developing and maintaining strong working relationship with the Police and the wider Safer Derbyshire partnership. 

The post is a key member of the Departmental Leadership Team, and is a role which is required to work collaboratively with partners, across all Council departments and with elected members, as well as supporting the Director of Community & Environmental Services in the strategic development of the service.

The Person: We are seeking an individual with excellent communication skills and the ability to drive the service forward and deliver difficult messages in a sensitive and tactful way. 

The successful candidate will have the ability to lead and support the team, whilst providing sound technical knowledge of managing and developing Car Parking Services.  They will display strong leadership attributes, personal qualities and a track record of delivering services to a high standard.
