Highway Services is part of the Place department, under the responsibility of the Director of Environment and Operations. It provides Enfield with the operational capacity to manage the Council’s highway infrastructure and associated assets. The service is also responsible for the delivery of the Council’s Network Management Duty under the Traffic Management Act 2004 and the co-ordination of all highway activities under the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991. The Council is a founder member of the London Permit Scheme and has a dedicated Street Works team to manage all of its statutory obligations. 

We have a Permit Officer post to be recruited to. We are looking for a candidate who can demonstrate the ability to show innovation and enthusiasm, can develop constructive relationships and effective communications with key people, both internal and external stakeholders.

You will have the ability to understand and learn relevant legislation and be able to work on your own initiative but also work as part of a team in a deadline driven environment. The ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for this post

Although the role will require specific knowledge of Street Works, we are looking for an individual who can demonstrate, through their application and interview, the potential to develop their skills and knowledge into this role. Training will be provided to the right applicant.
