The role will require a candidate who has a good knowledge of maintenance of highway structures, carriageways, footways and the ability to manage a group of 7 team members who oversee a revenue budget of approximately £2 Million per annum. The role is both challenging and rewarding as you will be involved in solving day to day maintenance issues that can improve the quality of life to many residents within the County Borough.

The role will require you to:

·     Oversee the highway structures maintenance programme, by coordinating the structures inspection program, coordinating minor maintenance repairs, and arranging for major refurbishment contracts to the infrastructure. Currently there are schemes ongoing and in design stages, with a budget of in excess £2.5 million for specific capital structures projects, which are programmed to be completed over the next couple of years

·     Manage and develop the Authorities Highway Asset Management Plan for structures, carriageways and footways

·     Manage the Highway Asset Maintenance team to ensure that the Authority complies with its statutory duties/powers as set out in the Highways Act 1980, and other relevant legislation.

The applicant must have knowledge, experience and be able to demonstrate the ability to undertake this challenging and varied role within the Highway Maintenance area. You must be able to work well as an individual and as part of a team and communicate effectively with colleagues, external companies and members of the public.
