Traffic Engineering Team Leader
Full Time Permanent 37 hours per week
NCJ P011 £39,782 - £42,683

This is an exciting opportunity to join Telford & Wrekin Council’s Network Management Team to lead on the delivery of a variety of projects within the Highways, Transport and Engineering Services area.

Telford a new town has its roots in the 1960s but this doesn’t mean we’re stuck in the past. Over the last 50 years the town has grown and developed into a hub of innovation and investment.

We have 626 miles of road, 743 miles of footpaths, 132 cycle ways, 20,000 street lights, 120 roundabouts, around 400 parks and open spaces and around 15 million trees. In 2019/20, our aim is to further improve our road network and highways assets. Some £12m will be invested during the year, delivering 222 improvement schemes across the borough. Another £10m will be invested the year after.

The latest findings by the Department for Transport show that the condition of our roads are better than the regional and national averages, which is quite an achievement given the current financial challenges we face.

As the Team Leader for the Traffic Engineering team, you will lead a team of Engineers/Technician and will be the technical lead on various road safety engineering schemes as well as managing the delivery of the annual Capital Programme as part of the Councils Pride in Our Community Programme.

In addition to this, you will be key to developing the Council’s Urban Traffic Management Control Centre to ensure Telford & Wrekin Council is at the forefront of smart city technology, managing assets such as traffic signals, variable message signs and CCTV cameras.
