Please note this is a 1-year fixed term contract, based in Colchester.

This role will predominantly involve processing blue badge applications and responding to enquiries relating to the scheme.

About you

Working as part of a project or a team, the customer specialist will deliver effective, efficient face to face and telephone support to a range of customers across Essex County Council, promoting a positive image through email, telephone, face to face, social media and letters, ensuring excellent customer service is always provided.

The support the customer specialist provides will put the customer at the heart of everything they do, whilst ensuring consistency and accuracy within customer processes are adhered to, and where appropriate, challenging and suggesting areas of potential improvement.

The role will require you to provide advice and guidance to customer apprentices, administer and respond to applications, and ensure that customer enquiries are understood and resolved promptly. You will accurately input data into systems and ensure any issues of concern are raised where necessary, within agreed service level agreements (SLA's).
Educated to NVQ level 2, with qualifications in Maths and English, you will have proven experience of providing excellent customer service across a large organisation. You will have a well-developed working knowledge of Microsoft applications, including Microsoft Excel, and you will have the ability to work at speed, whilst maintaining accuracy.

You will have strong communication skills including face to face and via the telephone.

Above all, you will be prepared to provide support to a wide range of services throughout ECC.

Qualification certificates should be brought to interview.

As part of employment with Essex County Council (ECC) should your role require a DBS check you will be required to register with the DBS update service. The DBS update service ensures all registered DBS certificates are kept up to date and allows authorised parties to view the status of your certificate.
