It’s no Salfordinary City
This is Salford’s time. Salford is transforming into a modern global city and this is underpinned by our clear vision to create a better and fairer Salford for all and provide the best quality of life for the people of the City.
As our City Solicitor you will be the City Council’s Monitoring Officer and manage a range of services providing direct expert legal advice to senior stakeholders working directly with our successful shared legal service with Manchester City Council. You’ll play a key role in Salford’s drive to ensure that the council is tackling inequality, building wealth and commercial delivery with our residents and communities.
Working closely with the Chief Executive and as a core member of our corporate management team you will lead the strategic management and development of legal, democratic and governance services and provide legal support on complex corporate and strategic issues.
Your approach and style will be forward looking, innovative and responsive and ideally, you’ll bring commercial awareness and experience. You’ll also be a highly skilled problem-solver and adept at building strong relationships with senior officers and members. People-centred and values based – that’s the Spirit of Salford. We are seeking a leader who aligns with our values, demonstrates our leadership behaviours and who is passionate about delivering the best outcomes for the people, businesses and communities of our city to take up appointment in April 2020.
For an informal discussion about the role contact our retained consultants at Penna: Carol Coyle on 07500 887 849 or Pete John on 07701 305617 or visit our microsite at
