Please note that this role will be based in Chelmsford but travel throughout Essex is required.

Essex County Council (ECC) is one of the largest and most dynamic local authorities in the UK, serving a population of 2 million residents, and has a very successful track record of delivering transformational change. ECC anticipated change was needed in the public sector and has worked to deliver better quality at lower cost. We have an ambitious transformation agenda - one with the scope to reach every part of the council. We are changing the way we think, the way we work, and the ways in which we deliver our services. We are committed to becoming a place where individuals, partners and communities feel proud to play their role and genuinely want to belong. We're immensely proud of our flexible working options.

We are seeking to recruit a dynamic and energetic individual who will be at the forefront of promoting Travel Training within South Essex as well as educating our clients through a structured school based programme in various Special Educational Needs schools (SEN). This role would be ideal for someone with previous experience of working in an educational role at a SEN school or has experience in a motivational role with individuals with physical disabilities and/or learning difficulties.

The work will be varied focussing on developing our educational provision within schools as well as working 1-2-1 with students in various locations across Essex to train them on how to access public transport on designated routes such as their home to school journey. The post holder will need to have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to establish rapport and trust with both the student/client and their parent/guardian.

The ideal candidate will be constantly developing and improving our session plans, power point slides and assessment material with a view of tailoring the course we provide to varying levels of ability, whilst retaining course value to students.

The post holder will need to undertake an element of administration, we would require the post holder to update daily training records, risk assessments and reports on multiple devices including smartphone, tablet and laptop computer. This role will involve travel through Essex, so access to your own transport and the ability to travel across a wide geographical area in a timely and flexible manner, at various times of the day, is essential. In this role you would be expected to have some early starts/late finishes as well as working during school holidays.

This exciting role is for you if you are an individual who seeks an ever-evolving role, relishes a challenge and enjoys managing your own time.
