In this role, you’ll help to develop the Council’s internal highway design traded service, leading a small team of technical design staff. You will support the Senior Manager in achieving the service’s business plan objectives. You will ensure we have the necessary project and commercial skills and resources to meet our objectives. You will deliver the project management of highway improvement schemes and manage the delivery of design briefs from client project sponsors in a commercial business environment. You will play a key role in business development, identifying and following through on potential new business opportunities as the consultancy service grows and develops.

We are looking for someone who can provide strong leadership and promotion of the service with both internal and external clients and public sector partners in order to deliver commercially viable outcomes.

You’ll need to be qualified in civil engineering to a minimum of HNC or equivalent and have experience working in both technical and commercial business environments.

Your experience should include the successful management of staff by applying corporate guidance and legislative requirements to ensure efficient and effective service delivery.

You will need a track record of successful construction-related commercial project management and people management.

Above all you will be looking to improve the way we engage with our employees, residents and customers to ensure they are at the heart of everything we do.
