An exciting opportunity now exists for a dynamic nature conservation professional, to be the lead officer for the Council in all matters relating to nature conservation and biodiversity. The role will sit within the Green Space Team, within Place Management, Supporting Communities Department.

The successful postholder will provide specialist advice to ensure appropriate regard for nature conservation and biodiversity across all Green Space services. They will also provide guidance for the planning department on applications and wider strategy and policy. They will also commission/foster and manage effective partnership arrangements in the protection and enhancement of the natural environment and in the delivery of health and wellbeing benefits from nature conservation, gardening and food growing activities.

The ideal candidate will have knowledge and experience of nature conservation within an urban environment, with a strong understanding of the planning process, land management for nature conservation and strategy and policy development. You will have strong communication skills, demonstrate innovative and creative thinking, be able to take strategic priorities and develop them into key deliverables, get the most from others and develop strong productive partnerships both internally and externally. You will have a working knowledge of biological databases, mapping and can bring on-board a new dimension to the Green Space team. Also required is good financial acumen for budget management and external funding.

This role is subject to an enhanced DBS check.
