As an Environmental Health Officer within Environmental Health, Business and Consumer Services your focus will be food safety issues. The role will require you to take personal responsibility for the effective investigation and resolution of complex casework and carry out routine visits and inspections to ensure compliance with relevant food safety legislation. Your varied workload will also cover infectious disease control and health & safety in food businesses, and you will be supported by your Team colleagues.

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Environmental Health Officer to join our busy Food Safety team. You will:

  • Hold a BSc/MSc or Diploma in Environmental Health and hold the EHRB Certificate of Registration/Diploma in Environmental Health.

  • Meet the competency requirements of the Food Law Code of Practice for an Authorised Officer.

  • Have a detailed knowledge and understanding of the legislative framework relating to food safety matters and recent, relevant experience in its application to casework, including enforcement.

  • Have an organised approach to your own workload whilst dealing with conflicting priorities and a customer service focused approach.

  • Be able to work collaboratively with internal and external partners, and able to contribute to service improvements and projects.

  • Understand the importance of accurate data and be able to manage information securely.
