Job Details

We are seeking to recruit a strong, highly motivated leader for this role as Service Manager working for the AMHP service across two Local Authorities, London Borough of Camden and London Borough of Islington. The role requires someone who will develop and evaluate the service, ensuring that both Local Authorities fulfil their statutory roles and duties under the Mental Health Act, 1983 (and amendments 2007) and applies the Mental Capacity Act, Human Rights Act and Care Act to protect the rights and entitlements of customers.

In this role, you will act as Service Manager for both centralised AMHP duty systems for each borough and be responsible for overseeing recruitment of prospective AMHPs, re-warranting, research, training and development of AMHPs, and contribute to overall delivery of the social care agenda in the Trust and planning of social care focused training.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and will require an Enhanced DBS.

To be successful in this role you will need a relevant professional qualification gained through experience and/or degree in management / business, as well as be AMHP trained or ability to undertake AMHP training and willingness to undertake training as required.

The ideal person will have strong experience of budgetary control and management with a strong knowledge of commissioning and development of services. You must be able to work collaboratively with partners and maintain sound working relationships across the AMHP service, including Trust and Local Authority senior managers.

To this role you will bring a comprehensive understanding of relevant health and social care legislation and policies and procedures and ability to apply it in practice.
