Job Details
We have an exciting opportunity for an Affordable Housing Development Coordinator to join our Housing Commissioning and Partnerships Team. The team acts as the primary point of contact for Private Registered Providers (PRPs - predominantly housing associations and co-ops) in the borough. The primary objective of this role is to maximise the provision of affordable housing in Camden by working closely with PRPs, developers, and colleagues in Planning as well as other Council departments, and thus demonstrate that Camden is an effective enabling authority.
To be considered for this vacancy, it is essential the successful candidate has previous extensive experience of planning processes and negotiating affordable housing elements in significant development sites. You will have knowledge of evaluation tools for assessing viability of development schemes, of scheme development standards and of funding criteria. The ideal candidate will have a keen analytical eye, which will assist you when completing detailed observations on submitted planning applications. The successful candidate will liaise with Planning and Legal colleagues and, where necessary, applicants to negotiate and finalise the relevant affordable housing/viability clauses within s106 agreements. In addition, you’ll be liaising with the Planning Policy Team, other Camden colleagues, PRP’s and the GLA on issues that affect the provision of affordable housing in the borough at a strategic level. You will help to identify ways of using Camden’s Affordable Housing Fund to increase numbers and/or improve affordability/accessibility of affordable housing on development schemes.
