Birmingham City Council's Drainage and Flood Risk Management Team are responsible for undertaking key functions as Lead Local Flood Authority in a challenging urban environment. The consequence of flooding to residents and businesses has a significant impact of the lives of the affected citizens. Working closely with partner agencies, we seek to mitigate and reduce the potential for flooding within the City.

The role requires the post holder to be the lead professional for the Authority’s Flood Risk Management and drainage function, providing strategic direction, leadership and service delivery through a dedicated team of professionals. The team functions include flood defence, forward planning strategy, catchment analysis and planning control, revenue and capital works, managing contractors and consultants and supporting our Resilience function.
