Job Details

The Council has been awarded additional funds the under governments Rough Sleeping Initiative (RSI) to reduce rough sleeping and associated street activity in the borough. In support of this objective we are recruiting a Re-connections Officer who will work closely with the Safer Streets Team and Camden Hotspot Team providing resettlement support to complex individuals who do not have a previous connection to the borough. The role will entail managing a case load of vulnerable adults and conducting escorted journeys with clients in order to re-connect them to their last settled base. The role will be based in the Community Safety & Emergency Management Service.

Due to the nature of the post this role will entail working some evening and weekends with a frequency of 1/3.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and will require an Enhanced DBS.

We are seeking a tenacious and resilient problem solver, able to build positive action plans with complex individuals and able to demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of need and risk in relation to rough sleeping. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a knowledge of Housing and Homelessness Legislation and some experience of applying that knowledge in a case-work setting. You will be an energetic advocate for those experiencing social exclusion and multiple needs and your negotiation and influencing skills will be required on daily basis.

To be considered for the vacancy you will be comfortable working in a multi -agency setting, innovating and learning, listening to other perspectives and building solutions. You will be self-confidant and able to exercise your own sound judgement when required, without direct supervision. 

The ideal candidate will be flexible and very adaptable in pursuit of outcomes, you will be highly conscious of professional boundaries and safe practise which will enable you to conduct escorted visits to locations within the UK with vulnerable adults. You will be working with a discretionary budget to support the outcomes, requiring professionalism and objectivity as well as high degree of creative and innovative thinking. Your background is likely to have included working with vulnerable adults in a housing or floating support setting or included previous experience of working with rough sleepers.
