Senior Engineer – Highways Development Service (HDS)
We are looking for someone to join the Development Management Team in a new post.
The Senior Engineer - Highways Development Service (HDS), will be the single point of contact for NYCC commercial highways design services, working with developers seeking to undertake highway works associated with new development within North Yorkshire.
With a bold and varied landscape and excellent wider transport links, North Yorkshire inspires and attracts a wide range of major developments, and often unique projects which are exciting to be part of. As well as working on the transport and highway solutions associated with thousands of planned residential properties, the team has also been part of plans for developments delivering new link roads, rail bridges, film studios, entertainment complexes, new transport terminals, and even delivering opportunities for mining and other varied critical infrastructure projects.
The purpose of the role is to own and manage the Council’s Highways Development Service, to be the single point of contact for developers and to ensure the project’s success by achieving a set return and delivery of key objectives, to be an integral part of the delivery of the highways development management service including supervising the Development Management Engineers and Highways Officers, and to provide professional advice and direction on development management issues to others involved in delivering the service in the team and to colleagues throughout the Service Unit.
To be successful, you must have:
- Detailed knowledge of current guidance and legislation regarding highways development management, developer funded highway works and the Planning process.
- Knowledge of highway design issues including Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB)
- Knowledge of computer based management information systems.
- Project and contract management experience
- Commercial awareness
