Swindon is a vibrant and dynamic town with big plans for growth.  We are ranked in the top 10 most highly innovative areas in the UK and are seeking to reflect this level of innovation in the way we deliver Council services.

The Bridges Team is responsible for around four hundred highway structures and numerous other corporate bridge assets and multi-storey car parks. We are seeking a Technician/ Inspector either as a fully qualified and experienced individual or as a Trainee. You will assist in the management of these assets along with development and delivery of reactive and planned maintenance works. This is an opportunity to make your mark and develop existing or new expertise within the Bridges Team.

You will be educated to or working towards HND level in a related engineering discipline. Experience in bridge inspection, maintenance and construction supervision are essential. Your experience will enable you to confidently carry out inspections, assist with the preparation of maintenance schemes, and provide assistance and technical support to the Bridges & Structures Team.

The successful applicant will be given the opportunity to continue with part time studies towards HND in Civil Engineering. Support will be provided throughout the training. Progression will be dependent on reaching specific training objectives and demonstrating competency in the working environment.
